Varsity Cheerleading Squad
Lopez cheerleading has soared to new heights in the 2007-2008 season. They have cheered for football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball. This is the first ever Father Lopez Cheerleading Team to compete as a sport. Their first competition, The Fellowship of Christian Cheerleaders’ National Championships, was held in January in Orlando, Florida. The team placed fifth in their category. In March, the team competed in the Inaugural Florida High School Athletic Association State Championships in Boca Raton, Florida, missing finals by just nine points. On April 12th, they will be competing as Intermediate Small Varsity at the National Cheerleaders Association’s National Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida, at the Daytona Beach Halfshell. The girls would love for any and all to cheer them on at this competition, as it is the most prestigious among all championships!

Tryouts for 2008-2009
            There are 15 spots available for the 2008-2009 Varsity Cheerleading Squad. No experience is necessary; guys and girls alike are welcome.  There will be a pre-tryout clinic to learn the tryout material, including a group cheer and dance.
            Judging will be based on the cheer, dance, jumps, tumbling, and motion tightness—all with a smile!
